INDUSTRY
At The Dance Studio, we have a range of classes targeted towards preparing our advanced dancers for work within the New Zealand dance industry. These classes focus on different styles and providing dancers with experience learning from a variety of industry professionals in a fast paced environment, much like that of an audition.
These are the classes we would recommend for those looking to diversify their movement base and prepare for industry auditions.

Advanced Commercial Industry
Ages 16+
Commercial dance is often an amalgamation of genres such as jazz, hip hop and contemporary while also pulling technical influence from ballet. This class provides students with a taste of the commercial dance industry in New Zealand. Students will learn a variety of styles through challenging choreography within a fast paced class.
This is a non syllabus class. Dancers must have dance experience.
Dancers will learn a show item in term four and perform on stage in our end of year concert.

Street Funk Industry
Ages 16+
Street Funk is a vibrant and energetic style of dance that blends influences from hip-hop and jazz. It’s known for its musicality, rhythm, use of isolation and expression of individual style.
Students learn basics of the style through movement phrases and perform in our end of year show.

Latin Repertoire
Ages 13+
Latin repertoire students will learn the principles of Latin technique while gaining confidence and experience in high heels. Students will combine technical strength with fluid hip movements to encompass this style. Dancers will often work in pairs and learn how to dance with a partner.
This is a non syllabus class.
Dancers will learn a show item in term four and perform on stage in our end of year concert.
