Richie Cesan

Richie has been dancing since he was 5 and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and hip hop, completing major exams in jazz and tap. He has been a choreographer in the commercial dance sector for many years, including his role as Assistant Choreographer for the Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony. Richie teaches in several schools as an itinerant teacher and is the director of BoyzDance2 company. He is also a foundation choreographer for the very successful ‘Out of the Box’ production which is a feature of Tempo Dance Festival each year.

In 2006 Richie co-founded TMC Dance Crew, which became one of NZ’s foremost hip hop dance crews, representing NZ at the World Hip Hop Champs in 2007 and again in 2009. Richie is also a member of the Identity Dance Crew who have previously won the New Zealand Hip Hop Championship and have won two silver medals at the World Hip Hop Champs in 2013 and 2014. Richie has been nominated three times for the TEMPO Dance Festival Young Choreographer award, and won in the award 2009. In 2015 Richie played a feature role in the New Zealand film Born to Dance.

Morgan Heron

Morgan has a Bachelor of Dance Studies from the University of Auckland and has been dancing since the age of three. Morgan received her dance training from The Dance Studio where she sat all levels of NZAMD tap and jazz. She has been performing professionally in the commercial dance industry for the past six years. Morgan has been the choreographer of Saint Kentigern College’s middle school musicals and has recently returned from New York where she attended a workshop with the world-renowned dance company, The Rockettes.

Caitlin Davey

Caitlin started dancing at the age of 3 at Auckland Academy of Dance, studying RAD Ballet to Advanced 2 and NZAMD Contemporary to Level 6, both with with Distinction. She was in the NZDC Youth Company, and the RNZB Mentor Program. Caitlin graduated from Unitec in 2015. Whilst there she performed in Lemi Ponifasio's work ‘I AM’ with Mau in the Auckland Arts Festival. Since graduating she has worked with Malia Johnston on ‘The Art of Colour’ and ‘Rushes’ which won multiple awards in Auckland Fringe. She choreographed and performed in the critically acclaimed show ‘Fabricate’, which was performed at Basement Theatre, Q Theatre for Tempo, NZ Fringe where it won the SYNZ tour ready award, Dunedin Fringe where it won Best Dance, and Sydney Fringe. She has also worked with Charles Koroneho, Foster Group (Sarah Foster-Sproull) on ‘Orchids’ and ‘Sisters of the Black Crow’, and Fidget Collective (Claire O'Neil) on ‘Extra Ordinary Humans’, among others. She is one half of ‘Catacular’, the dance show performed in a cat cafe. Caitlin was the recipient of two residencies for her full length work About Others, Basement Theatre’s research residency Ideas In Residence and the DANZ and Saint Kentigern Summer Development residency. About Others was performed in Tempo Dance Festival 2019 at Q Theatre. In 2019 she was also an ATLAS scholarship recipient for Impulstanz Dance Festival in Vienna. Caitlin is passionate about her students growing as people while enjoying their love for dance.

Lucy Lynch 

Lucy completed her dance training at UNITEC, graduating with a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance. During her studies, she was fortunate enough to work with many of New Zealand's most renowned contemporary choreographers. Straight out of graduation in 2011, Lucy was offered an internship with The New Zealand Dance Company and was appointed one of eight professional dancers in 2013. She has now danced with the company for seven years. During her time she has collaborated with a vast amount of choreographers from New Zealand and across the globe. Lucy has been fortunate enough to be involved with annual national tours across New Zealand, Australia (Australian Dance Festival), Germany (Tanzwochen Festival), and the prestigious Holland Dance Festival. Lucy has also performed at World of Wearable Arts Awards, WOMAD, SPLORE, Tempo Dance Festival, Short and Sweet, Auckland Fringe Festival, The New Zealand Body Arts Awards and has performed at various events with Diamond Entertainment and Vospertron.

Andrew Cesan

Celina Torres
Teaching:  Hip Hop
Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts - Contemporary Dance from Unitec

Celina trained in both ballet and jazz since the age of 5 and now currently trains in contemporary and hip hop dance. Her recent performances and choreographies include performing in the NZ made musical, ‘The City Of 100 Lovers’ directed by Tony Stimac, the NZ made children’s TV show, ‘The Exceptional Squad’, Okareka Dance Company’s work, ‘WIRED’ choreographed by Taiaroa Royal, Taane Mete and Sarah Foster-Sproull and DyCypher Productions’ show ‘4 Leaps 1 point’, in which she choreographed and performed in a piece called ‘Still Life’.  Celina is also very invested in being a part of Identity Dance Company, competing with the world renowned hip hop crew IDCO. Competitions include the ‘World Hip Hop Championships’ (USA), ‘Dancers Paradise’ (Mexico) and the most recent ‘Upgrade’ (Australia) in which they placed 1st. She also participated in the ‘I Am Unbreakable’ NZ tour under this company. She has also trained many hip hop crews including Neverland Studios’ junior crew, ‘Khaos’ and varsity crew, ‘Tribe’ who have both qualified and competed for the World Hip Hop Championships.

Holly Finch

Holly began dancing at the age of 5 at the Dale Boddy Academy of Dance in Taupo. Here she completed her jazz and contemporary exams to solo seal and RAD ballet to Advanced one.

In 2014 Holly moved to Sydney completing her full-time dance studies at ‘Ettingshausens' on a partial scholarship. At her graduation she was awarded a scholarship to Broadway Dance Centre in New York, where she studied for 3 months in the ISVP program.

In 2015 Holly was a member of the dance cast onboard Celebrity Cruises ‘Millennium’, sailing Alaska and Canada. Most recently she travelled to Tokyo Japan, to train and perform in Jillian Myers ‘Questions and Answers’ intensive and show.

Holly enjoys any opportunity to learn and extend her knowledge. She is passionate about choreography and teaching, and enjoys sharing her love of dance with others.

Issie Cassidy

Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts - Contemporary Dance from Unitec

Issie started dancing at The Dance Studio at the age of 4. She has completed all levels of NZAMD contemporary and jazz including solo seal. She received multiple nominations for the NZAMD scholarship weekends held annually. Issie has also had training in Latin, Heels classes and ballet. She is a recent graduate of  Unitec's Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts program majoring in Contemporary Dance. She was part of Momentum Productions “All That” jazz show in Tempo in 2015 and 2016 and danced on X Factor New Zealand in 2015. She was apart of “Grounded: Battle of the arts” in 2016 and 2017. In 2017 she danced in the show “Artimus” as part of the Auckland Fringe festival. She has just started working in the commercial dance industry with both Diamond Entertainment and Momentum Productions. At the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 Issie was apart of the Breakers dance team with which she performed at the Breakers home games. in 2019 she was given the opportunity to do a secondment with the New Zealand Dance Company for 4 weeks. Issie is hoping to extend her career in contemporary dance and is excited for her future now she has graduated.

Leanne Pearce

Leanne is an experienced tap dance teacher and choreographer. She has trained dancers of all levels in tap and jazz styles for over 25 years and is a national examiner for the American Jazz Dance Afiliation (AJDA) tap syllabus. Leanne trained in the South Island and has spent the last 15 years in Auckland in various teaching and management roles. Leanne is a dedicated teacher who believes dancing should be fun and accessible so that students may build self-confidence while nurturing the enjoyment of dance. She holds qualifications in the British Ballet Organisation (BBO) tap syllabus and the AJDA tap and jazz syllabus.

Oli Mathiesen 

Oli began his dance training at the age of 7 at The Dance Studio and BoyzDance2. Training in tap, contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and hip hop, he is now in his second year of study at Unitec doing a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts majoring in Contemporary Dance. Oli has completed the NZAMD syllabus in tap and contemporary, as well as receiving NZAMD Scholarship nominations for Tap for 3 years. Alongside dance, Oli shares a strong passion for theatre, working with Auckland Theatre Company (ATC), The Basement Theatre, NYTC, K.I.S.S, and Auckland Music Theatre on shows and musicals. Oli has performed in 'Tempo Dance Festival' (2009-2018) including 'Out Of The Box' (2014), 'Metamorphosis - Boyzdance2' (2018), and had his choreography featured in 'Ignite!' (2017). He has performed in 'YouDance Festival' (2013-2016) as well as having his own choreography featured in the showcase in 2017.  Oli was awarded the AMDA College Conservatory Scholarship for New York or LA at Kairos Dance Convention consecutively in 2017 and 2018. Oli has trained in Momentum Productions 'Professional Development' team and was apart of their 2018 show 'Duality'. Oli also works with Les Mills on their 'Born To Move' program as a dancer and instructor, and continues to seek out new dance opportunities

Shania Neera
Teaching:  Hip Hop

Shania Naera is an Urban dance artist. She moved to Wellington in 2014 and began her career as a student/Tutor for the Company NZ, working with Ben Uili (Director of the Company NZ). She enjoyed artistic and visionary movement from Patrick Godinet. Cast member of spotlight 2017 and 2018. Moved to Auckland in 2019, as a member of IDCO 2019 Adults mega crew and Choreographer and member of Bindy Tuesday faculty. 

Currently a member of Prestige dance crew 2020, advancing her skills and knowledge to an outstanding performer and tutor. She’s most Recognised as one of New Zealand best female Krumpers of 2008 - 2014. 

Shania is an International performer in HHI, WOD (New Zealand), AGT and Upgrade (Australia).

Eleanor Tubman
Teaching: Contemporary & Jazz

Eleanor has been dancing since she was 3 years old and working at the Dance Studio since 2017. She has trained in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. Eleanor has completed the NZAMD syllabus in Contemporary and Jazz and in 2018 received a NCEA dance scholarship.  Eleanor has performed in YouDance Festival and Tempo Dance Festival. She continues to extend and develop her dance knowledge and experience with her studies and looks forward to sharing her love of dance with others.
Sophie Mclean

Sophie began jazz dancing at The Dance Studio at age 7. She quickly realised her passion for dance and started tap, contemporary and ballet.

She has currently completed NZAMD jazz Advanced 1, tap level 7, ballet Intermediate and contemporary solo seal diploma. She has represented The Dance Studio in jazz and contemporary troupes and competed at PACANZ in 2017.

Sophie aims to pass on her love for dance to younger students. She is currently working through the NZAMD teaching programme and has been an assistant teacher at The Dance Studio since 2017.

Maddie Gray 
Teaching: Jazz 
Maddie has been dancing since she was 3 years old here at The Dance Studio, where she has been trained in jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, contemporary and lyrical. She has been competing since she was 6, representing The Dance Studio in many competitions including the National Young Performer of the Year finals in 2016. Maddie has completed both the jazz and contemporary NZAMD syllabi with multiple nominations. She has competed at the World Hip Hop Championships in USA 2 years in a row as a part Identity Dance Company, gaining a bronze medal in the varsity division with her dance crew “Masque” in 2018. Maddie is a member of Momentum Productions Professional Development group where she aims to continue growing as a dancer and teacher.

Holly began dancing at a young age, training in Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Lyrical and latin at The Dance Studio.

She has completed all NZAMD jazz exams and has earned NZAMD scholarship nominations in both Jazz and Contemporary.  in 2015, Holly featured in a televised performance on X-Factor New Zealand and has guest performed at events such as Coca Cola Christmas in the park and Hip Hop International New Zealand.

Holly has performed with Momentum Productions in their shows 'All That' (2015), 'Synthesis' (2017), and 'Duality' (2018) which were featured in Tempo Dance Festival.

Holly has since been working in the commercial dance industry, performing with leading dance entertainment agencies Diamond Entertainment, Phoenix Entertainment and Les Follies.

Charlotte Barrand

Charlotte has been dancing since the age of 3. She has completed NZAMD exams across ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary, gaining distinction and a scholarship nomination in all four. Alongside this, she has completed NCEA dance, endorsing with excellence at all three levels. Charlotte has represented The Dance Studio at various competitions, most notably at the National Young Performer Awards in Palmerston North in both 2016 (finals) and 2017. She has also performed in various festivals such as YouDance and has had her choreographic work commended by industry professionals in Tempo’s IGNITE.

Rosa Tubman
Teaching: Hip Hop and Jazz  
Rosa has been dancing for 13 years, she has trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop. She is passionate about dance and hopes to share this passion for dance with her students. Rosa has competed twice at the Hip Hop International World Championships, in 2015 with Swagganauts (Identity Dance Company) and 2016 with Khaos (Neverland Studios). Rosa is a member of Momentum Productions Pre-Professional Development Team and was part of their 2018 show “Duality”. Rosa currently works with Les Mills on their “Born to Move” program as a dancer and continues to pursue commercial dance opportunities.
Faolan (Manny) Okan

Manny started dancing at The Dance studio at the age of 4, learning all styles of dance at a beginner level. After 12 years, he has completed the NZAMD syllabus of tap and contemporary, earning solo seal in tap with a perfect score. Manny has been a crew member in identity dance company for 5 years as well as representing New Zealand 3 times at the Hip Hop Worlds Championship, placing top 5 in 2017 in the 9 man varsity crew Swagganauts. Manny has also competed in various tap competitions, winning various solo competitions and championships in ACDA, as well as recently winning the NZAMD scholarship Tap Championship after competing for 4 years.

Jessica Hopkins

Jessica has been dancing for 14 years, trained in all styles here at The Dance Studio since she was three years old. She has been competing since age 6, representing The Dance Studio in many competitions including the National Young Performer of the Year finals in 2016. Jess has completed the jazz, tap and contemporary NZAMD syllabi with several nominations. At age 16, she gained her Jazz Solo Seal Diploma. Jess is also involved with the young people peer support organisation Kidsline. Jess is super passionate about Dance and Teaching and aims to guide young dancers to reach their full potential.

Kate Ingold 

Kate is 17 years old and has been dancing since the age of 3. She joined The Dance Studio at age 8. and since then Kate has trained in Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Lyrical. She has represented The Dance Studio as part of the Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary competition troupes for the past 8 years. Kate also competed in the finals of the National Youth Performing Arts Awards in Palmerston North in 2016. Kate has also taken part dancing in multiple school productions and competed in stage challenge as part of the Western Springs College team.
