Junior Performance Group 2012

Congratulations and welcome to the 2012 junior performance group.
Thank-you so much for all your hard work last Friday at the audition.

As i mentioned in the class last week, this year we are going to be working very hard, all girls who have been accepted to join the team need to make the junior performance group their NUMBER ONE PRIORITY throughout the year.
As most of you would know the standard of dance throughout Auckland and New Zealand is very high and here at The Dance Studio we want our performance groups to be at the top end of the spectrum. This can be insured by attending all rehearsals and giving 100% at every class. If you do not think you can commit to the junior performance group this year or this does not sound like something you would like to go through with, please let us know ASAP so we can fill your spot.

Senior Performance Group Term One 2012

 

 

JANUARY 2012 UPDATE:

Hi Everyone

Hoping you all had a lovely Christmas and new year and have had a great holiday despite the lack of sun in most places!

We are now back in the studio getting things ready for 2012 and wanted to let you all know of some of our plans for the upcoming year.

TIMETABLE

Getting the timetable right is always our most difficult task so please note that this is subject to change although, we will make every effort to keep it as it is . Please also note that all planned classes are subject to having sufficient numbers. Conversely, there may be a need for extra classes if numbers exceed expectations.

For these reasons, it is absolutely imperative that ALL students come and enrol.  We will not be allowing anyone to come into a class without completing an enrolment form.

Remember we are open for enrolments from 10am-5pm TUESDAY 31^ST JANUARY till SATURDAY 4^TH FEBRUARY.

NEW CLASSES

There are a number of new classes this year including: Musical Theatre, Tap for Hip Hop Dancers, Lyrical Jazz and Femme Hip Hop with Paul.  

As well as these new classes, we are continuing with adult classes and offering open intro classes in Jazz and Contemporary.

GUIDE TO CLASSES

In most cases if students have sat and passed examinations in a grade/level they will move into the next grade/level.  Please note that students who did not sit examinations in 2011 may not automatically move up without permission.  Also, students starting a new dance form must talk to a senior teacher to ascertain an appropriate starting level.

NB:  All Jazz students Grade 5 and above MUST take their class and their level technique class if they wish to sit examinations. There is a special combined fee for the 2 classes.

PERFORMANCE GROUPS

Please note that all Performance Groups are by audition and we will be holding auditions for these as below:

Senior Performance Jazz –Thursday 9^th February, 8pm Sandringham Rd

Junior, Intermediate and Pre-Senior Jazz – Friday 10^th February as per timetabled times – Dominion Rd

Senior Performance Latin –Monday 13^th February 8.30pm Sandringham Rd

Junior Boys and Girls Hip Hop Crews (12 and under)6.30 Wednesday 8^th February

 

COMPETITION SOLOS/DUOS/TRIOS

If you think you may like to take part in competitions this year, PLEASE discuss this with Belinda or Ginny in the first instance.  All students representing the studio will be required to attend a competition lesson every week in order to participate. 

BOYZDANCE 2 

Boyzdance2 will no longer have a weekly class as this will become a project based company .We do however have plans for performances in TEMPO and continuing to accept corporate work and performance opportunities. 

Boys wishing to be part of these must take TAP or HIP HOP (or both) and either JAZZ or CONTEMPORARY. Again here is a special combined fee for the two classes.

 

FEES

There will be a slight increase in fees in 2012 to offset the rent increase that we have incurred as a result of our renewal of the lease. Again please see website for fees schedule.  There are discounts available for students who take multiple classes and have other family members enrolled and also for accounts paid in full prior to the start of term. Please note that we are unable to accept enrolments from students until any outstanding fees from 2011 have been cleared.

PHOTOS/DVD’S /UNIFORMS/ SHOES / DANCE STUDIO GEAR

All of the above can be ordered or purchased during enrolment week.  Don’t forget also if you have a pair of shoes or a uniform that is too small to bring it in for resale.

UPDATE December 2011:

Hi to all the students and their families. 

Firstly, we just wanted to say congratulations to all the students and our amazing helpers for their fantastic effort and commitment in making the concert such a success.

All the teachers were blown away by the performance level of all students and we have had some great feedback from the audiences.  Remember to check out our Facebook page, there are already some great photographs and comments there. 

We are taking a break also, and will not be in the office until the 16^th of January.  Check out the website from 17^th of January for the timetable and additional information regarding enrolment options and classes for 2012. 

Enrolment week is from Tuesday the 31^st of January through to Saturday 4^th of February from 10am to 5pm.  Please note:  ALL students must re-enrol to ensure places in preferred classes.  DVD’s and Photographs can also be ordered during this time.

We now want to wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas and hope you all enjoy this time with your families.

We look forward to seeing everybody back in the New Year!
